Our adult winter reading program has started, and we invite all patrons who are 18 and older to sign up and join the fun! It will run until March 19 with the wrap-up party 1-2 p.m. or 6-7 p.m. March 22.

Our theme this year is “Read ’N’ Feed!” We‘ll have a suggested reading list ready for you to pick up when you register.

This year, any participant who reads and logs one or more books may submit up to five recipes per book logged. Each recipe must be typed or printed clearly because we will be using your recipes to create a Whitehall Township Public Library cookbook in the spring.

Any recipe, from cookies to barbecued ribs and salads to desserts, will be accepted.

To help Whitehall Lions Club with one of its yearly service projects, the library will continue to gather donations for the local animal shelter, Peaceable Kingdom.

When you drop off items at our location, Lions Club members will take them to the shelter to help meet the needs of their animals. They need cat food and dog food, cat litter, old blankets, sheets, towels, etc.

Please ask for the Peaceable Kingdom wish list at the front desk of the library.

The holidays are over, but the need for folks to receive food and supplies is still important in Whitehall.

Are you looking for an easy, practical way to help people in need? The library will continue to collect nonperishable items for Whitehall Food Pantry throughout the year. The food pantry is looking for canned or boxed food (such as soup, coffee, tuna, Hamburger Helper and cereal), canned pet food and paper products (such as paper towels, toilet paper and tissues).

Items may be dropped off during regular library hours. Monetary or gift card donations can be mailed and payable to Whitehall Food Pantry at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, c/o Whitehall Food Pantry, 3900 Mechanicsville Road, Whitehall, 18052.
