Richard G. Laros
Richard G. “Dick” Laros, 82, of Lynn Township, died peacefully Jan. 28, 2016, surrounded by his family at Home at Parkland Health and Hospice, Schnecksville.
He is the husband of Norma J. (Bell) Laros, the love of his life for 64 years and loving father of four children.
Born Aug. 10, 1933, in Allentown, he was a son of the late Richard J. and Margaret A. (Shoemaker) Laros.
A 1951 graduate of Allentown High School, he was a passionate outdoorsman, successful businessman and artist who lived life to the fullest.
He owned and managed two well-known Lehigh Valley area businesses; Laros Plumbing and Heating, and Laros Fuel Oil, before pursuing his lifelong interest in wildlife art, becoming one of the nation’s most recognized and innovative taxidermists.
His success with Laros Taxidermy led him to become a founder and the director of the Lehigh Valley Outdoor Expo Sports Show running for 33 years.
He was a Colorado hunting guide and outfitter and hunting travel consultant, and a founding member of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of Safari Club International.
He was a founding board member of the Pennsylvania Taxidermy Association and a lifetime member of the NRA.
He was also a life member and past vice president and longtime board member of the Maskenozha Rod and Gun Club in Pike County.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons: Richard James of New York, N.Y. and Thomas S. of New Tripoli; daughters Susan L. and Richard Brian of New Tripoli and Judy L. and John Szuchyt of Allentown; grandchildren Lauren, Christopher, Matthew, Molly, Ian, Erin, Jamie and Stephen; and great-grandchild Olin.
