Marlyn L. Maurer

Marlyn L. “Spike” Maurer, 84, formerly of Emmaus, died February 1, 2016, in the Villas at Fellowship Community, Whitehall. He was the husband of the late Jannat G. (Greenawalt) Maurer. Born in Emmaus, he was the son of the late Warren L. and Mabel M. (Schmoyer) Maurer.

Before retiring in 1988, he worked as an area supervisor for 37 years at Buckeye Pipeline in Macungie.

He was a member of St. John’s U.C.C., Emmaus.

He was a 32nd Degree F&M of Lodge No. 792, Emmaus, a member of the Rajah Shrine, Reading and a lifetime member of Emmaus Fire Co. #1.

He is survived by sons, Ronald L. and his wife Jessie, of Emmaus, Donald W. and his wife Susan, of Allentown, Dale L. and his wife Beverly, of Summerville, S.C.; daughters, Peggy A. and her husband Peter Thomas, of Virginia Beach, Mary L. and her husband Bill Parcell, of Wescosville, Sandra L. and her husband David Saylor, of Macungie; 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Eleanor (Reiss), second wife Betty (Correll); brothers, William, Forrest and sisters Helen, Dorothy Danenhower and Shirley McGinley.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Feb. 5 at the Schmoyer Funeral Home, 8925 Brookdale Rd., Breinigsville. Calling will begin 1 p.m. with Masonic services held just prior to service time.
