LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Chief asks for residents’ help

Salisbury Police Department Chief Allen W. Stiles is asking all residents to clear the fire hydrants by their homes to help police and fire personnel in times of emergency during winter weather.

Remove any snow and ice and clear a wide enough perimeter around the hydrant for firefighters to work, approximately three feet.

It is also helpful to clear a path from the hydrant to the street.

As was seen in this latest storm, neighbors were helping neighbors who were not able to plow or shovel.

If you have a neighbor who has a hydrant in front of their home who is unable to clear a path, please consider helping clear the hydrant.
