It was sad to see the word “condemned” in the headline of the article about Miller’s Diner (Jan. 21 edition of Northampton Press).
My grandfather Samuel Miller was the one who founded the diner back in the 1950s. I remember seeing the two dining cars on two flatbed trailers in the Northampton Community Center parking lot before they were placed in position.
My grandfather Samuel had a nickname, that was Bim. The article referred to him as Bing.
Also, my dad, Donald, and mom, Ann, rented the diner from my grandfather. My dad and mom never actually owned the diner. After my dad and mom decided they had enough of the business, my grandfather sold the diner.
I just wanted to clarify a few points that were not accurate in the article.
