Method J. Pipan Sr.

Method J. Pipan Sr., 81, of Country Meadows, Bethlehem, died Jan. 17, 2016, at St. Luke’s Hospice House after a three week illness. Born in Nanticoke, he was a son of the late Andrew and Bertha Pipan. He was the husband of Mariestelle (Carpenter) Pipan for 61 years.

He was president of the 1952 graduating class at Nanticoke High School, where he was named to the Scholastic All-Star Basketball team.

He was a store manager for Weston’s Department Stores, N.Y. He was later the advertising manager for Lazarus Department Store, Wilkes-Barre. He was in management positions with Montgomery Ward department stores in Ill. and Ind., and for Sears Roebuck in Pennsylvania. Before retiring, he was a security guard at AT&T/Western Electric and worked at Kirkland Village, Bethlehem.

He was a member of the Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mariestelle P. and her husband Stephen Austin of Chatham, N.J.; Paula A. and her husband Barry Reifinger of Allentown and Linda J. and her husband Stephen Long of Bethlehem; a son, Method J. Jr. of Forty Fort; 11 grandchildren, Molly, Claire, Erica, Brian, Stephen, Daniel, Adria, Ryan, Krista, Cayla and Jenna; and two brothers, Bernard and his wife Millie Pipan of Dallas and Cyril and his wife Marita Pipan of Mass.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Gertrude and Rita; and by a brother, Joseph.
