After a 41-day renovation project, Parkland Community Library celebrated its grand reopening Jan. 16 with a ribbon cutting ceremony, food, balloon bash and music.
Some of the guests attending the ribbon cutting included Tony Iannelli, president of the Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, and Barry Cohen, vice president of Parkland Community Library Board of Directors.
Community residents attending the ribbon cutting in the morning munched on muffins and cupcakes while touring the newly renovated library and meeting and having their photos taken with a very hungry caterpillar.
Festivities in the afternoon included balloon sculpturing with Clay Gunderman and Celtic music performed by Haley and Dylan Richardson.
The library’s new look offers visitors new lighting, carpeting, a computer center, comfortable furniture, reference desks, self-service checkout and a space for teens.
“The new look is very modern but comfortable. I think it really brings us into the 21st century,” said Debbie Jack, executive director of the library.
