Tori Morgan re-elected president

Christina “Tori” Morgan was re-elected for another two-year term as president of the South Whitehall Board of Commissioners.

During the Jan. 4 reorganization meeting, Commissioners Thomas Johns and David Bond simultaneously nominated Morgan for the position.

She offered comments on her selection.

“It’s an honor to continue to serve,” Morgan said. “It’s an adventure.

“We have a very good board. I look forward to working with all of you.”

Glenn Block was re-elected for another term as vice president.

He was nominated by Johns and seconded by Commissioner David Bond.

Bond was elected assistant secretary.

Director of Finance Lenore Horos serves as the board secretary.

Township Manager Howard Kutzler explained the role of secretary.

“The secretary signs resolutions. It is an attestation that everything was done in accordance with the rules,” Kutzler said.

Prior to the election of officers, District Judge Jake Hammond administered the oath of office to Block and Bond who were re-elected for four-year terms and to Matthew Mulqueen who will be serving his first term as a commissioner.

Morgan expressed some thoughts to The Press on what lies ahead for the township in the new year.

“There are some great developments on the horizon which we are anxious to see come to fruition,” Morgan said. “Through organizational changes, we can provide more enhanced services.

“We’re excited about our new police chief and the park and rec programs.”

In other matters, the board granted unanimous approval to the re-appointment of Kutzler.

His term runs from January 2016 to January 2018.

“Howard, you’re doing a fantastic job,” Morgan said.

Joseph A. Zator II was re-appointed township solicitor with his 2016 fee schedule.

Work done by attorneys of the Zator Law Firm will be billed at $175 per hour.

J. Scott Pidcock, The Pidcock Co., was re-appointed towndship engineer.

Ralph Russek Jr., who serves South Whitehall and the board of commissioners from the Pidcock Co., expressed his appreciation.

“We’re grateful. Thank you,” Russek said.

Fees for professional services from The Pidcock Co. were approved including $118 per hour for the principal of the firm and $95 per hour for a senior engineer or a senior architect, a 2.5-percent increase over the previous year.
