The Auxiliary of Northern Valley EMS, NOVA, is ready with the first fundraiser of the new year.
The group will be preparing homemade apple dumplings for pick-up Jan. 24 or 25.

The youth group of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, will be hosting a Spuds and Suds lunch 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 17.
The menu features a baked potato with more than 15 toppings, and a beverage.
The event is a fundraiser for the young people’s trip to the UCC National Youth Event at Disney World in July.

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, has started a book club.
The club will meet 6:30 p.m. the first Thursday of each month.
The first selection is “The Storyteller” by Jodi Picoult.
The group will read for enjoyment, perspective and discussion.

The Learning Ark Christian Pre-School of Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, will host an open house 6-8 p.m. Jan. 21.
Tour classrooms, review the curriculum and register children for the next school year.
Classes are available for 3- and 4-year-olds and pre-kindergarten.
For children ages 1 to 3, the pre-school offers a Two-by-Two parent and child class.
Art in the Afternoon is another option presented by the pre-school.
Open house snow date is 6-8 p.m. Jan. 28.
