Lowhill readies for 2016

At the Jan. 4 reorganization meeting of Lowhill Township, motions were made to reappoint Richard Hughes as chairman, George Wessner Jr. as vice-chairman, Robb Werley as member and treasurer, and Jill Seymour as secretary.

Joseph Kalusky was reappointed road foreman with Joseph Plaska as assistant.

Additional part-timers Terry Stewart and Glenn Grim complete the township’s road crew.

The law firm of Steckel and Stopp, Slatington, with Charles Waters, Esq., continues as solicitor.

Brian Carl was reappointed township administrator and zoning officer.

Emil Kantra Esq., of Fitzpatrick, Lentz & Bubba, was reappointed as the zoning board and UCC solicitor.

Keystone Consulting Engineers, Chris Noll, was appointed engineer, SEO, and health officer.

Judy Hoffman and Janet Henritzy remain as secretary and permit applicator.

Both are also alternate township administrators.

Township auditors remain Carol Dorsch, Bob Martin and Stacey Schappell.

Barry Isett and Associates is again appointed as the township’s inspection firm and code enforcer.

The earned income tax collector will be HA Berkheimer and Associates. Carol Betz was reappointed property tax collector and Phyllis Breininger as deputy tax collector.

New appointments included Phyllis LaFollette and Luke Miller to the planning commission; Karl Reed and alternate Louis Rupp to the zoning hearing board; and Dennis Trexler to the UCC board of appeals.

Also discussed was employee comp time and unused vacation procedures.

A 3.5 percent pay raise was approved for township employees and a pension rate of 8 percent.

Benefits include medical, dental, disability and life with sick, personal and a set schedule of vacation days.

Supervisors meeting will continue to be held 7:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month with the exception of April and July, when the board will meet on the second Thursday.

Planning commission meetings will be 7 p.m. on the second Monday before the board of supervisors meet.
