Hokendauqua: Faith hosts community meal
In partnership with Whitehall-Coplay Hunger Initiative, Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church is hosting a free community meal 4-6 p.m. Jan. 19. The church is located at 3355 MacArthur Road.

Hokendauqua Park & Playground Association (HPPA) will be holding boys and girls registration for the upcoming baseball and softball season at Hokendauqua Legion, 3739 American Legion Drive, on the following days: 6-8 p.m. Jan. 19; 2-4 p.m. Jan. 30; and 6-8 p.m. Feb. 5.
Please bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate (for first-time players), proof of health insurance and contact information, including phone numbers and e-mail addresses, for completion of the registration form. Visit the HPPA website, hokeypark.org, for registration forms and information. You can register online until Feb. 5.

As an additional HPPA announcement, in continuation of its Bob Warke – Dale Horn Scholarship Program, HPPA will again be awarding two $1,000 scholarships. This year marks the 29th anniversary of the group’s basketball tournament, from which proceeds are used to fund the scholarship awards.
The Bob Warke – Dale Horn Basketball Tournament will be held at Whitehall-Coplay Middle School around the end of February. Contact Mike Frana at franman69@aol.com for information on the tournament.
To be eligible for the Bob Warke – Dale Horn Scholarship, you must be a class of 2016 high school eligible graduate, be continuing your education in the fall of 2016, must have participated in the HPPA’s baseball, softball or basketball youth programs and must complete the scholarship application form and return it to the HPPA prior to Feb. 29. Additional requirements are listed on the application and the website, hokeypark.org.
The organization will review all of the applications and select one girl and one boy to receive the scholarships at its March/April meeting.
