In honor of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Day, Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) and the LCCC Student Government Association will host civil rights activist Dr. Terrence Roberts, 7 p.m. Jan. 18, Scheller-Woodman Community Services Center, LCCC main campus, Schnecksville, North Whitehall Township. The event is free and open to the public.
Roberts was one of the “Little Rock Nine,” the first group of African-American students who, in 1957, enrolled in Little Rock Central High School, Little Rock, Ark. Roberts was 15-years-old and in the 11th grade. Roberts’ 2009 memoir, “Lessons from Little Rock,” details his childhood in the segregated South.
