Emmaus Director of Athletics Dennis Ramella announced that Harold Fairclough has been named the nineteenth head coach of Emmaus football. Last evening, the East Penn School District Board of Directors unanimously approved Fairclough for the position vacated by Randy Cuthbert, who recently resigned to become the athletic director/head football coach at Wissahickon High School.
In announcing the appointment, Ramella stated “The search committee sought a candidate who possessed the coaching ability and personal qualities best suited for the East Penn School District and our current situation,” Ramella said in a news release sent Tuesday morning. “We believe Coach Fairclough is that type of leader who will eventually put his own stamp on our program.”
As team captain and four-time letter-winner at Allentown Central Catholic, Fairclough led the Vikings to the 1993 PIAA Class 3A, District 11 and EPC championships, while earning all-conference and all-state honors in his senior year.
At Susquehanna University, Fairclough earned four varsity letters, served as team captain and was selected to three all-conference teams as well as the USA Division III Preseason All-American Team.
Fairclough went on to become head coach at Central Catholic. In his seven years at the helm of the Vikings, he led the team to three league titles and three district titles, culminating with the 2010 Class 3A state title.
