Rockne Hall to undergo renovation

One of the best representations of Central Catholic’s history and traditions is Rockne Hall. It is where we have school-wide Mass, assemblies and performances and it is the home court for the basketball and volleyball teams.

In 1942, construction was completed on Rockne Hall and the first basketball game was played in the brand new, state-of-the-art facility.

The hall is named in honor of Knute Rockne, the well-renowned football coach from the University of Notre Dame. Along with the gym itself, Rockne construction also included 12 classrooms, a library, administration offices, labs, workshops and a cafeteria.

Now, 88 years later, Rockne Hall will be renovated in order to sustain and improve the facilities. The renovation will include upgrading lighting, replacing both scoreboards and main baskets, adding video and projection systems, updating wall pads and painting and renovating the weight room. The total cost of these improvements is $250,000; donor plaques in Rockne Hall will acknowledge outstanding contributors.

The renovation will make a large impact on the school and is much anticipated by all members of the Central Catholic community.
