State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Stevland Johnson, 38, of Philadelphia was stopped for allegedly traveling 100 mph in a 55 mph zone 2:45 a.m. Nov. 29, 2015 on Route 22, South Whitehall Township.
Police also allege Johnson was under the influence of alcohol.
He was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence.
State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Eduar Cantillo-Mosquera, 49, of North Bergen, N.J. was driving a 2002 Freightliner 324, with trailer, when it jackknifed and hit an embankment 4:54 p.m. Dec. 23, 2015 on I-78, Upper Macungie.
The rig was traveling west in the right lane on I-78, negotiating a right curve when Cantillo-Mosquera allegedly failed to maintain a safe speed and could not break in time for stopped traffic ahead, police say.
According to police, as a result, the tractor hit the guard rail with its front left bumper before it lost control as it jackknifed and hit an embankment.
The tractor-trailer combo came to a final rest facing southwest, with its rear trailer tires in the right lane.
The tractor sustained disabling damage to its front bumper and undercarriage and was towed from the scene by Hauser’s Towing, police say.
Both Cantillo-Mosquera and his passenger Leonel Arriaza, 48, also of North Bergen, were wearing their seat belts, and were uninjured, say police.
Cantillo-Mosquera was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
