David L. Kern, 63, of Coplay, formerly of Slatington, died Dec.22, 2015.
Born Dec. 29, 1951, in Allentown, he was a son of the late Lee and Martha (Bisko) Kern.
A 1969 graduate of Slatington High School, he later received a four-year degree in psychology and a two-year degree in electronics.
He was a janitor for numerous years with various businesses.
A Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam era, he received an honorable discharge.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 426, Coplay.
He was a Christian.
An avid chess player, he loved the game and was a member of the U.S. Chess Federation.
His survivors include a sister, Carol, wife of Robert Brazes of Slatington; brother Michael and his wife, Rhonda Kern, of Slatington; aunts; uncles; niece and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and cousins.
