Paul E. Newhardt, 88, of Bethlehem, died, Dec. 27, 2015, at Holy Family Manor, Bethlehem. He was a son of the late Robert W. and Bertha (Kilpatrick) Newhardt. He was the husband of the late Mickaline (Fattore) Newhardt.
He was a corporal in the 1383 Army Air Force base unit, stationed in Goose Bay, Labrador.
He worked at Bethlehem Floor Covering for 32 years. He retired from Bell Labs Western Electric/Lucent after 14 years.
He was a member of Trinity U.C.C. Church, Bethlehem, and of St. Paul’s U.C.C., Northampton.
He was a member of Lehigh Valley Carpenters Union Local #600, Bethlehem, and a member of the American Legion Post #0379. He was a craftsman who made hundreds of matchstick crosses, which he gave away to church groups and friends.
He is survived by three children, Maryann and her husband Robert Gehringer of Bethlehem, Tim and his wife Beth Newhardt of Bethlehem and Jill and her husband Richard Garger of Northampton; two sisters, Helen Becker and Ruth Wolfe; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
He was predeceased by two brothers; and two sisters.
