Lamar J. Dougherty, 88, of Bethlehem, died Dec. 30, 2015, at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital, Bethlehem. Born in Zerbe, he was a son of the late Beatrice (Griffiths) Dougherty. He was the husband of Renee E. (Odille) Dougherty for 67 years.
He was in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a coal miner. He was a crane man, unit leader and steel cutter at Bethlehem Steel for 38 years until he retired in 1989. After retiring, he worked for the City of Bethlehem.
He was a volunteer for Liberty High School’s Grenedier Band and North East Middle School’s Band, the Boy Scouts and the Greater Bethlehem Soccer League. He was a baseball coach.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Michelle O. and her husband Willis Leidich of Bethlehem; a son, Lamar F. and his wife Beth of Fairfax, Va.; three grandchildren, Kimberlee, Travis and Elizabeth; a sister, Norma O’Brien of Southbury, Conn.; and the Odille family in France.
