Josiah David Smith, a member of the Boy Scout Troop 1600, has earned the honor of Eagle Scout, the highest rank Boy Scouts offer.
Only 3- to 4 percent of Boy Scouts ever attain this prestigious honor.
A ceremony honoring Josiah will take place 4 p.m. Jan. 3, 2016, at Jordan United Church of Christ, 1837 Church Road, South Whitehall.
Josiah, 18, earned the 56 merit badges required to receive the Eagle Scout award.
For his final project he designed and made three, 8-foot serving tables for the outdoor services for Jordan UCC, where he is a member.
Josiah graduated with high honors form Parkland High School and was a member of the Concert Choir, Parkland Chorale, Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Band and the Trojan Marching Band.
He was selected to the 2015 PMEA All State as well as District and Regional choruses.
An accomplished student, he was a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honors Society and the National Math Honor Society.
He is also a member of Venture Crew 1600 and the youth group at Jordan UCC.
A Georgia Tech student, Josiah is majoring in computer science.
