Trial date set for ‘Superfly’ Snuka

The trial date for professional wrestler Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka has officially been set.

According to Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas records, Snuka, 72, will stand trial March 22, 2016, for the May 1983 murder of his former girlfriend Nancy Argentino.

On Sept. 1, Snuka, 72, of Camden County, N.J., was officially charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter in the death of Argentino, 23, of Brooklyn, N.Y. Argentino was found unconscious in the George Washington Motor Lodge, Whitehall Township, with brain injuries and 39 cuts and bruises, later medical reports indicated.

According to a Lehigh County grand jury, Snuka assaulted Argentino multiple times and left her for dead in a motel bed.

The grand jury charge is the result of testimony taken from 20 witnesses, as well as then-Lehigh County Detective Gerald Procanyn, the Lehigh County District Attorney’s office said.

According to court records, Snuka remains free in lieu of posting 10 percent of the $100,000 bail.
