Santa breakfast set for Dec. 19
Continuing a tradition, Commitment to Family & Community (CFC) will hold a breakfast with Santa Dec. 19 at its Cherry Street hall. Doors open 9 a.m.
Following breakfast, Santa will arrive and will give each boy and girl a surprise. Photos with Santa also will be available.

The model train exhibit on the second floor of borough hall, Fourth and Center streets, will be open to the public noon-4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays until Jan. 10.
Model Railroad Explorer Post 101 is the host. Delaware, Lehigh & Susquehanna Railroad will be operating two modular layouts that were built by members.

It is not too early to make plans for New Year’s Eve. On Dec. 31, Coplay Saengerbund will host an event with a hot buffet dinner and beverages. Rocking in the new year, deejay Hot Tub Jerry Green will provide entertainment.

Coplay Scholarship Fund Committee is seeking donations to continue its annual scholarship grants to young borough men and women pursuing further education after graduating from high school, albeit college, trade school or police academy.
Thousands of dollars in grants have been awarded to recipients over the years. Donations can be sent to CSFC, 41 N. Eighth St., Coplay, 18037.

A handsome white gazebo now stands at the community plaza, Second and Chestnut streets. The gazebo was erected Friday.
Electrical work was also completed, enabling the gazebo to be lit at night. Several benches are being added to the site, labeled as the “Gateway to Coplay.”

The borough’s official Christmas tree, outside of borough hall, was donated by Diane and Paul Boyle of Coplay. The tree was donated by the couple on behalf of their daughter Tacy.

The Ironton Rail-Trail Oversight Committee reports that a spur of the trail in North Whitehall Township will remain open over the winter for walkers, joggers and bicyclists.
