Jeanne V. (Knotts) Jacobs, 89, of Orefield, died Dec. 10, 2015.

Born Oct. 1, 1926, in Newburgh, N.Y., she graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing and was a registered Nurse.

She married Charles Jacobs on Aug. 21, 1981.

She had a career in nursing for Allentown Osteopathic Hospital.

A member of St. Joseph the Worker Women’s Guild, Orefield, she was a volunteer and president of Allentown Blind Association.

An avid tennis player, she was a gardener who loved her flowers. She also enjoyed crocheting, boating and all outdoor sports.

Her survivors include granddaughters Heather Schwindenhammer and Hilary Deutsch; and one great-grandson.

She was predeceased by her daughter Valerie Shellenberger and her loving aunt and uncle, Pearl and Bill McKean, who raised her as a child.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Dec. 17 at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholice Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefiel.

Calling hour 9-10 a.m. Thursday in the church.
