LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Girls finish in 10th

Whitehall High School’s cheerleaders competed at the East Penn Conference Cheer Championships where they placed 10th last Wednesday at Easton Area Middle School.

“Waiting was the worst part because it gives you more time to think,” said Whitehall co-captain, Alyssa Holland.

The Zephyrs performed sixth out of 16 teams.

Holland and Whitehall’s other co-captain, Taylor Beer, felt the Zephyrs could have hit their stunts better, but they had to fill in for an injury with little time to do it.

Beer said, “We had been really struggling with the first stunt. Starting where we were in the beginning of the season, we’ve come far.”

One of their stunts was a low to high into a waterfall and a back walkover out; then, a front walkover in, into a squish, into an arabesque, and yo-yo out.

“We put out the best we had. We did the best we could,” said Holland. “We stand as a team and fall as a team.”

Liberty High School’s cheerleaders were the first-place winners of the EPC competition, and Bethlehem Catholic placed second.
