The developer of the Fullerton Lofts, a proposed 49-unit apartment complex, has received the recommendation of Whitehall Township Planning Commission to convert the long-vacant 215 Quarry St. property into residential housing.
Work Force Housing has had a role in moving the project forward. Previously, the property housed Fullerton Sportswear.
Representatives of the developer have said, “We’re happy to be in Whitehall; it will not have a negative impact on the neighborhood.”
The apartments planned for the three-story structure are a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units.
Next on the agenda is to have the project go before the township zoning hearing board at its Dec. 15 meeting.
The property is in an R5A high-density residential (without apartments) zoning district.
The developer of Fullerton Lofts, in his appeal before the zoning board, is requesting special exception from the township ordinance requirements regarding changing from one nonconforming use - a factory - to another nonconforming use - an apartment building.
In other news, Simon Brothers, Allentown, will go before the zoning appeals board seeking a variance for a property at 844 Third St. for a proposed mechanics garage on a lot with an existing convenience store, gas station and car wash. The property is in a C1 neighborhood commercial zoning district. The request is in regard to multiple uses of parking space regulations.
In another request before the zoning hearing board, Bang Wang Pan, Whitehall, asked for relief from conditions imposed previously at its 1250 Schadt Ave. location. That property is in an R4 medium-density residential zoning district.
