Library is collecting food, household supplies

Whitehall Township Public Library is collecting nonperishable canned/boxed food products. All items collected will be given to Whitehall Food Pantry.

The pantry is looking for items such as soup, Hamburger Helper, cereal, paper towels, toilet paper, tissues and canned pet food.

Items may be dropped off during regular library hours.

The library recently digitized the Whitehall High School yearbooks from 1922 to 2014. We now are able to provide copies on DVDs that can be displayed on a computer. These will make excellent gifts for alumni of Whitehall High School.

Complete an order form (available at the front desk or on our website) and bring your payment to receive your copy. We will call you when your copy is ready.

Cost of the yearbook is $2 cheaper if picked up at the library. Only cash or check is accepted. Please make checks payable to Whitehall Township Public Library.

On Dec. 15, we will host a movie night. At 6:15 p.m., come enjoy “The Seventh Dwarf” (PG). This free event is open to the public.

Movie nights take place the third Tuesday of each month.

Dec. 21 will be the third Monday open mic and jam night starting 6:30 p.m. Rocking the Valley Internet Radio will be doing its show here at the library. Local musician Mike Holliday will be here to perform as well.

Entertainers interested in performing three songs or a 15-minute set are asked to sign up 6:15 p.m. Musicians, singers, poets, comedians, actors, writers, storytellers, mimes, etc., are invited to show off their stuff. We also welcome all to come and be part of the audience.

Please consider a gift to the library of $50, which would be one dollar for each year we have been helping residents of Whitehall and the surrounding areas. Any contribution would be appreciated and is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Forms are available on our website, at the front desk or retrievable by mail.

Additionally, the library now accepts donations via PayPal. Use your credit card or PayPal balance to donate.

A reminder that the library will be closed Dec. 24, 25 and 26. On Dec. 31, we will be closing 1 p.m. and will be closed all day Jan. 1.

On behalf of the library board, staff and Friends of the Library, we would like to wish all of you a blessed and happy Christmas season and a wonderful 2016.

Thank you for helping us celebrate our 50 years of service to the community. Now on to the next 50 years!
