David Kennedy, who has served on the Parkland School Board 18 years, was elected president at a reorganization meeting Dec. 1.
Lisa Roth, a six-year board member, was named vice president. Before her recent marriage, she was Lisa Adams.
Kennedy, who was vice president in 2015, has a particular interest in vocational education.
He has been a member of the Lehigh Career and Technical Institute Joint Operating Committee for 18 years and was chairman for eight years.
Kennedy is a substitute teacher at vocational schools in Bethlehem, Easton and Upper Bucks.
He teaches in any department or subject as the need arises.
Retired from management positions in the printing industry, Kennedy is chairman of the Platinum Group of Companies, a real estate holding firm.
His aim in the year ahead is “to keep moving the district forward.”
Roth, who is active in the Community Advisory Council, has been ea customer support specialist at Air Products for 30 years.
Nominated for the leadership position by Mark Hanichak, Kennedy received the votes of Robert Bold, Carol Facchiano, Hanichak, David Hein, Barry Long, Roth and himself.
Robert Cohen, nominated for president by Jef Reyburn, had the votes of Reyburn and himself.
Roth, nominated for vice president by Reyburn, received the votes of Long, Reyburn and himself.
Prior to the vote for officers, Reyburn, Roth, Bold and Kennedy were sworn in upon their successful re-election in November.
Facchiano, who won election to her first term in November, was also sworn in and welcomed to the board.
