John Lahovski, 89, died Dec. 2, 2015. He was a son of the late John Lahovski and the late Mary (Grutsky) Lahovski-Batuik and his stepfather, the late Stephen Batuik.

He was a William Allen High School graduate.

He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, 1945-47, on transport ships that carried German prisoners and U.S. troops. He was a merchant marine, 1947-59, and completed his career as a chief purser.

He worked in the commercial HVAC industry for 22 years until he retired in 1987.

He was a member of the former St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church and a current member of Queenship of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Northampton.

He maintained his sobriety for 56 years and helped numerous others achieve sobriety as a sponsor in the program.
