Moravian College
NHHAW Sleep Out event
The National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week, sponsored by Moravian College’s Center for Career and Civic Engagement, began Nov. 16 and 17 with film nights and a service project.
The Monday night documentary, Storied Streets, explored homelessness starting in Los Angeles and ending in New York.
On Tuesday, the film, America’s Invisible Children: The Homeless Education Crisis in America, was followed by a discussion.
That evening, more than 100 students slept in cardboard boxes from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. at the 1742 marker near the corner of Monocracy and Locust sts. Each person had one blanket, were given black coffee in the morning, and were not allowed to have any electronics or to bring their own food.
