Wayne A. Cardoni, 69, of Orefield, formerly from Wilkes Barre, died on Nov. 29, 2015, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill.

Born Sept. 5, 1946, in Plains, Luzerne County, he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Irene (Smolenyak) Cardoni.

He and his wife Gayle A. (Deets) Cardoni were married 34 years last June 14.

A member of the IBEW Local 163, Wilkes Barre, he was an electrical superintendent at Bechtel Corp. for 30 years before retiring.

He was a member of Jordan Evangelical Lutheran Church, Orefield.

An avid golfer, he was a member of the Wednesday morning golf league at Iron Lakes Country Club.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by children Lia E. Pierce and her husband, William, of San Diego, Calif., Wayne A. Jr. and his wife, Anne Marie, of Bethesda, Md., Maria T. Burke of Macungie, Elissa A. DiCarlo and her husband, Salvatore, of Bethesda, Christopher J. and his wife, Monika, of Wahiawa, Hawaii; sister Monica Stevens of Plains; 10 grandchildren; several nephews and one niece.

He was predeceased by brothers Dennis and Joseph.

His memorial service will be 10 a.m. Dec. 3, at Jordan Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5103 Snowdrift Road, Orefield, with the Rev. Dr. Hartland H. Gifford officiating.

Family and friends may pay their respects 9-10 a.m. Thursday in the church. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church memorial fund and/or to the American Cancer Society, both c/o the funeral home, P.O. Box 196, Schnecksville, PA 18078-0196.
