LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Community members invited to winter concerts

It is hard to believe Thanksgiving is now behind us and December has begun.

The weather is no indication Christmas is now less that a month away.....not that I’m complaining.

The hustle and bustle of the holidays is here and our schools are very busy as well.

The Harry S Truman Elementary School holiday shop, sponsored by the PTO, will be held Dec. 2 to 4, with evening hours 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 3. Students will have the opportunity to shop for their families during designated times during the week. If you can, send in pre-addressed tags for gifts to be wrapped and packaged.

There will be an operations committee meeting, a reorganization meeting and a curriculum and technology committee meeting 7 p.m. Dec. 2 in the administration building.

The HST PTO will hold their monthly meeting 7 p.m. Dec. 7.

HST will present the annual winter concert, featuring grades 4, 5 and the chorus 2 p.m. Dec. 8. Just in case, the snow date is 2 p.m. Dec. 15.

Dec. 10 is HST spirit T-shirt day.

The Salisbury Middle School winter concert will be 7 p.m. Dec. 10.

The Western Salisbury Elementary School concert will be Dec. 14.

At Salisbury High School, the junior class is selling tickets to Tony Orlando’s Great American Christmas show Dec. 3 or 10 at the Sands Event Center, Bethlehem, as a fundraiser. Suite tickets include choice seating and a chance to meet Tony Orlando.

Tickets can be purchased from any junior class member or by contacting Susan Wilson at 610-797-4107, ext. 2120 or by email swilson@salisburysd.org. Tickets will be issued upon payment. All proceeds benefit the class of 2017. Checks should be made payable to SHS Class of 2017.

SHS will hold the winter choral and instrumental concert 7 p.m. Dec. 3.

The sophomore class is selling Frontier Soups dried soup mixes and dip mixes. These soup mixes make an entire Crock-Pot full of soup for those warm winter days. Contact Kelly Butterbaugh at kbutterbaugh@salisburysd.org or stop by the main office for an order form.

Members of Key Club at SHS are selling holiday flowers through Dec. 11. For more information, contact Key Club advisor Kate Hutchinson at khutchinson@salisburysd.org.

A school board meeting will be held 7 p.m. Dec. 16 in the administration building.

As the holidays approach, plan ahead and remember Salisbury schools will be closed Dec. 24 through Jan. 1, 2016. Schools will re-open Jan. 4, 2016.

Looking ahead, the annual winter ball semi-formal Sadie Hawkins dance will be held 7 to 10 p.m. Jan. 16, 2016 (snow date of Jan. 23, 2016) in the SHS gym.

The gym will become a winter wonderland. Music, photo prop stops, a winter court with a prince and princess crowning and other fun will fill the night.

Tickets will be discounted if purchased prior to the dance and will also be available at the door. Guests are welcome provided a guest registration form is on file by Jan. 14, 2016.

The Franko Farm yard waste drop off center will be open 8 a.m until 1 p.m. Dec. 8 and 12. This is the last weekend it will be open until March 2016.

Township leaf crews are still working their way around the township.

Hoping everyone has a fabulous December.
