Richard J. Lloyd

Richard “Dick” J. Lloyd, 87, of Whitehall, died Nov. 17, 2015, at home.

He was the husband of Maureen (McCormack) Lloyd and the widower of Martina “Tina” A. (Penny) Lloyd.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the youngest of eight children of the late Howard M.J. and Helen (McTaggart) Lloyd.

A traditional Catholic, he was one of the co-founders of two apostolates, the National Coalition of Clergy and Laity and Marian Restoration.

Both groups work to see the teachings of the Catholic Church are known by as many people as possible.

He wrote much about the topic of perfection.

In his writings and discussions, he stressed a devout practice of Catholicism should, through the grace of Our Lord Christ, lead one to perfection.

In his last years, he worked with Marian Restoration to prevent abuses against the Blessed Sacrament.

He considered this the most important work Our Lord gave him the grace to do.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children Kevin and wife, Diane, Christopher and wife, Carolyn, Paul and wife, Rosimar, and Gregory and wife, Susan, all of Whitehall and Maria wife of Robert Ewell, of Orefield; 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and his wife’s six children and 24 grandchildren.
