Register for the community breakfast Dec. 5

Salisbury Township School District will host the first annual community breakfast. All Salisbury residents are welcome to dine 9 to 11 a.m. Dec. 5 at Salisbury High School.

The menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, coffee and juice. Did I mention it is free? Registration is required by Dec. 1 to attend. You can register online at www.stsd.org/breakfast or by calling 610-797-2062, ext. 1000.

I do have some sad news for the students of Salisbury High School. There will not be a two-hour late start for those students not taking the tests on Keystone testing days in December. My son was looking forward to that very much and is not pleased he has to go in at normal time. Sorry guys.

Salisbury Middle School will hold health screenings Dec. 3.

It is winter concert time in the school district. The Salisbury Middle School band and chorus will present a winter concert 7 p.m. Dec. 10 in the middle school cafeteria. I might be a little biased, but I think those middle school drummers are pretty fantastic.

The Western Salisbury Elementary PTA will hold a Holiday Shoppe Dec. 9 through 11. Students will visit the shop with their class during school hours to purchase inexpensive gifts for family members.

One last minute reminder: all schools will be closed Nov. 26, 27 and 30.

A curriculum and technology committee meeting will be held 7 p.m. Dec. 2 at the administration building.

The Devonshire yard waste drop-off site will be open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 1 and 5.

As always, I will put in my two cents about shopping on Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

Please be kind to fellow shoppers and especially to the store employees.

They are working long shifts and dealing with long lines of customers. If anything, be extra kind. Bring us coffee. If you stop at Starbucks before going into the South Mall, I wouldn’t mind a caramel macchiato as a little pick-me-up to get through my shift. Just kidding (kind of). Whether you shop or stay home and chill out with family, have a very Happy Thanksgiving.
