Offices closed for Thanksgiving

The Coplay Borough office and public works department will be closed for Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, as well as Black Friday, Nov. 27. Garbage pickup will resume Nov. 30.

In addition, the public works crew has completed Friday yard waste pick-ups until spring 2016. If you still have leaves that have not been put out for pick-up, please call the borough.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St., will hold its annual blood drive beginning 8 a.m. Nov. 28 in the church hall. Donors must be at least 17 years old and weigh no less than 110 pounds.

In addition to blood donations, the Miller-Keystone Bloodmobile will be equipped for donations of red cells, plasma and platelets.

Watch Walk volunteers will walk along streets and curbsides 9 a.m. Nov. 28 to pick up litter to keep the town clean. Generous volunteers have been keeping this project continuing for several years.

In the event of inclement weather, the walk will be canceled.

A family on Fourth Street in Coplay has donated a large evergreen tree to the Borough of Northampton for its community yule tree at the Main Street and Laubach Avenue triangle where the 30-foot-tall tree will be shinning bright with holiday lights beginning Nov. 29.

Coplay Public Library, 49 S. Fifth St., will hold its scrabble night 5-7 p.m. Nov. 30.

The public is invited to participate in the event.
