State Police Beat

State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Angel Rodriguez, 24, of Allentown, was placed in custody 11:42 p.m. Oct. 29 after he was allegedly seen walking along the shoulder of the eastbound lanes of I-78, Upper Macungie Township.

Police say Rodriguez, who allegedly had an active warrant for retail theft from the Whitehall Police Department, also had nunchuks in his possession.

Rodriguez was taken to Lehigh County Prison on the active warrant and charges for possessing a prohibited offensive weapon, police say.

State Police Troop M Bethlehem say Laurie D. Kalson, 51, of Breinigsville, was driving a 2001 Saturn S 7:43 a.m. Oct. 22 eastbound along Route 22, just east of Route 309 South Whitehall Township, when she apparently failed to slow down and her car struck a 2006 Subaru Tribeca driven by Astra N. Souliotis, 32, of Wescosville, in the rear fender.

Both vehicles came to a final rest approximately 25 feet from the point of impact along the shoulder of Route 22.

The Saturn sustained moderate damage to its front end. The Subaru sustained moderate damage to its rear, police say.

Kalson sustained a minor injury and was transported by Cetronia Ambulance Corps to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Police say Souliotis was uninjured.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, police say.

A citation was filed against Kalson with District Judge Jake Hammond, South Whitehall Township, for following too closely.
