Richard A. Yacobenas, 87, of Slatington, died Nov. 6, 2015, in Luther Crest retirement community, South Whitehall.

Born in Tamaqua, he was a son of the late Albert and Mary (Shilko) Yacobenas.

A flagman and laborer for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for many years, he retired in 1984.

He was a member of St. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church, Tamaqua.

His survivors include sisters Theresa M. Ohl of New Tripoli and Rita V. Follweiler of Slatington, with whom he last resided; five nieces and three nephews and their families.

His funeral service will be at the convenience of the family in Robert S. Nester Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1066 W. Penn Pike, New Ringgold, with interment in St. Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Owl Creek.
