Visit the HST book fair for great bargains
Autumn is in full force, the leaves are changing and dropping and now Halloween has come and gone. The township schools are busy with fall activities, as always.
The Harry S Truman Elementary School book fair runs through Nov. 5. Everyone will have the chance to shop during school hours, as well as an evening shopping time 6 p.m. Nov. 5.
The Falcon girls basketball team will hold a pancake brunch in the Salisbury High School cafeteria 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 8. There is a cost; children under four are free.
The Falcon girls basketball team will hold a basketball camp for girls in third through eighth grades 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 8. There is a fee and preregistration is required.
The 2015 Bruce Uhl Falcon basketball camp will also be held 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 8 for boys in grades four through seven. There is a cost and preregistration is required.
There will be a Longaberger Basket bingo Nov. 8 at Salisbury Middle School. Doors open noon, with games starting 1 p.m. The bingo benefits the Salisbury Twirlers.
Nov. 9 will be the HST fifth grade invitation to lunch. Look for information to come home with your fifth grader.
The SHS fall play, “The Importance of Being Earnest,” will be presented 7 p.m. Nov. 12 through 14 and 3 p.m. Nov. 15. Tickets are available from cast members, via email at Salisburytheatre@salisburysd.org or at the door.
For those elementary students who missed photo day or are unhappy with their photos, a retake opportunity is available Nov. 16. Look for information to be sent home.
The next district school board meeting is scheduled 7:30 p.m. Nov, 18 in the administration building.
I know it’s early, but for those like myself who need to plan ahead, remember HST and Western Salisbury Elementary School will have early dismissals 1 p.m. beginning Nov. 20 through 25 for parent teacher conferences. There will also be no school in the township Nov. 26 through 30 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The Salisbury Athletic Booster Club continues to sell car magnets which are available at the SHS concession stand, SHS athletic office, HST main office and the district administration building.
The Franko Farm yard waste drop-off site will be open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 10 and 14.
Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Eastern Salisbury, 1707 Church Road, will hold a basket social 7 p.m. Nov. 6 at the church. Contact Louise at 610-866-1611 for tickets.
Cub Scouts with Pack 146 and Boy Scouts with Troop 146 will once again be Scouting for Food. Flyers will be placed at doors Nov. 7 and the Scouts will return Nov. 14 to collect the food for the needy in the Lehigh Valley. For questions or to arrange a pickup, contact David or Pat at 610-791-0983,
Boy Scouts Troop 146 will hold a flag retirement ceremony 1 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Eastern Salisbury Fire Department, 1000 E. Emmaus Ave. Relatives, friends and neighbors of Scouts are invited to this ceremony for the respectful retirement of worn flags.
