August E. Brunner Jr., 86, of Pleasant Valley, died Oct. 22, 2015, at Weston Health Care, Lower Saucon Township. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late August E. and Dorothy A. (DeHart) Brunner. He was the husband of Mary M. (Mitchell) Brunner for 34 years
He was in the U 3623rd Ordinance, MM Company, U.S. Army, during the Korean War.
He owned and operated August E. Brunner Insurance Company, Pleasant Valley, until he retired. He was a produce manager with Food Fair Markets for 30 years.
He was a 50-year member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he was the financial secretary.
He was a 40-year member and a past president of the Springfield Township Lions Club, and was a two time recipient of the Melvin Jones fellowship award; two-term vice governor of District 14A. He was a member of the Springfield Township Historical Society; Ice Cream Collecting Club, American Jukebox Society and the Christmas Valley Beamers. He was a life member of the Springtown Rod and Gun Club. He was a past Democratic committee chairman for Springfield Township.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Louise E. Maczura of Hellertown; nieces; and nephews.
