Whitehall Township voters will choose two candidates for the township constable office in the general election Nov. 3.
There are three candidates on the ballot: Democrat Richard Klock and Republicans Ron Clever and Andy Roman.
The Press asked each of the candidates the following question: What will be your first order of business if elected to office?
Ron Clever
“As a state constable with 18 years of experience and an attorney with 30-plus years of experience, including as the solicitor for the Pennsylvania Fraternal Order of Constables, I bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the office of constable.
“The constable serves an important position in the criminal and civil justice system, especially at our community level. The elected constable is a peace officer whose first order of business is to serve our community of Whitehall by enforcing the law, similar to other law enforcement officials like the sheriff and police, though with a different scope of coverage.”
Andy Roman
“My first order of business as a peace officer is to use my 20-year military experience as an Air Force veteran to successfully complete the State Act 49 Certification with Firearms to provide Whitehall citizens the professional constable services that keep our neighborhoods safe!
“The Constable’s Education and Training Program is mandated by Act 2009-49 to provide several types of training: 80 hours of basic training; 40 hours of basic firearms training; 20 hours of annual continuing education training; 20 hours of annual firearms training; 20 hours of advanced firearms training; and up to 16 hours annually of optional training.”
Attempts to contact Richard Klock were unsuccessful.
