Homecoming king abdicates throne, gives crown, sash to fellow classmate

The high school cafeteria was packed with students Oct. 24 as Jillian Krempasky was crowned Parkland’s 2015 Homecoming Queen and Jack Dreisbach was crowned King during the homecoming dance.

The highlight of the evening, though, was the abdication of King Dreisbach as he gave up his crown to Dominic Morrone, a fellow student with a rare genetic disorder.

This act drew loud cheers from students and more than a few tears flowed from many in the crowd.

According to Special Ed teacher Amanda Keifer, two exceptional students Dreisbach and Maddie Pope embraced Morrone and gave him a special weekend.

“Dom is proud of that sash. He came in wearing it today,” she said.

“I’m so proud of the students here.”
