In the upcoming election on Nov. 3, municipalities will have many candidates vying for elected office.
The post of Upper Macungie Township supervisor is open and Sean Gill is looking to be elected to this position.
Now running for a 6-year term, Gill had been appointed to complete Sam Ashmar’s term after Ashmar’s untimely death.
Even though he is running unopposed, he would like residents to know more about him.
He, his wife, Karen, and their children have lived almost 12 years in their home along Sawgrass Drive.
He works for Estes Express in Kutztown, which gives him experience in traffic management and budgeting and other aspects useful to managing a township.
Gill understands the importance of these items and expects them to be useful in township government.
He has been involved in the community for a long time by being active on the township’s recreation board.
He sees his greatest accomplishment as being happily married and having a strong family value ethic.
Gill wants to follow in Ashmar’s shoes and he says he will try to emulate his ideals.
He says wanting to be interactive with the residents and listening to the community will guide him in making the right decisions for the township.
His first year on the board was challenging, Gill says, and his involvement was more than expected, but he has adjusted.
“Working with fellow Supervisors Kathy Rader and Jim Brunell is a pleasure,” Gill said.
“They have a good camaraderie working together to handle issues which arise in the township.”
