Dr. David O. Williams II
Dr. David O. Williams II, 64, of Allentown, died Oct. 20, 2015, in his home wearing his trademark combination of plaid pajama pants with a tautly tucked in button down dress shirt. He always believed in dressing well for any occasion, even sleeping. He was the husband of Dawn F. (Achtermann) Williams. They were married 34 years. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Dr. David O. and Sonia O. (Odoleski) Williams.
An active youngster and graduate of Salisbury High School, he enjoyed skiing, riding his motorcycle and deer hunting.
After earning his Ph.D. from Thomas Jefferson Medical College, he worked as a research scientist specializing in cardiovascular remodeling at the University of Missouri. Fifteen years later with multiple publications in medical journals, he pursued his dream of financial advising, earning his MBA from the University of Missouri and opening Cambria Financial Management, Inc.
He filled his free time creating the Columbia Duffer’s Club, directing a preliminary pageant for the Miss America organization, volunteering for the American Heart Association and recently, enjoying equitation at the Boots and Saddle Riding Club. Dave, or Davester as he preferred to be called, enjoyed a glass of fine Cabernet Sauvignon, holding his sweetheart close while dancing with friends in their kitchen, the calm serenity that comes only by sitting in a tree stand while appreciating the changing leaves and cool fall weather during hunting season, watching wildlife pass through his backyard, yelling at the moles that burdened his flower gardens, bundling up his grandchildren in as many blankets as could be found, watching the Phillies- or the “Sillies” as he called them when they lost, cheering on “his girls” competing in the Miss America pageant and smothering everything good in life with extra duck sauce.
He is survived by his wife; son, David O. III and his wife Amy J., of Powell, Ohio; daughter, Dr. Amanda W. and her husband Dr. Tyler W. Smith, of Indianapolis, Ind.; sister, Dr. Carol Ann and her husband Dr. John C. Lyons, of Erie; grandchildren, Katherine Grace, and Hunter Mark Smith; nieces and nephews.
Contributions may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, Lehigh Valley Division, 968 Postal Road, Suite 110, Allentown, 18109.
Arrangements were made by the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, Allentown.
