Restaurant planned for Hausman Road
Gregg Feinberg, of Ridgeview Limited Partners, wants six parcels of his land along Hausman Road rezoned to establish a locally owned restaurant.
He described the type of place he has in mind during the Oct. 7 South Whitehall commissioners meeting.
“It would be polished casual for family dining at a higher end concept,” Feinberg told the board. “It will include a bar area.
“This would be very different from anything you have in this area.
He said videos will be projected on screens on the walls for sensory experiences.
One video might be set in a rain forest, and patrons would have its unique sights and sounds as a background while they are eating, he explained.
The properties on the west side of Route 309 are presently zoned Industrial Commercial, which does not allow a restaurant.
Planning Director Gregg Adams said a text amendment inserting the restaurant use can be added to the I-C zoning District, still allowing potential for industrial uses.
Feinberg was advised to take his concept to the planning commission.
In other business, commissioners listened to a proposal from Attorney Buddy Lesavoy for expansion of the Chabad of the Lehigh Valley clubhouse at 3457 Crackersport Road.
Formerly an office building, the clubhouse in its present alignment is not convenient for the variety of activities taking place.
Lesavoy said personnel need to move items around inside to accommodate Mom and Me programs and activities for special needs children and other groups using the building.
“We would like to have spaces dedicated for appropriate activities,” Lesavoy said. “We are seeking expansion of a non-conforming use.”
No action was needed by the board at this time.
Commissioners granted approval to Dorney Park for construction of a 2,500-square-foot, one-story maintenance building.
The project includes a paved access drive around the building and three parking spaces. The Hang Time ride will be removed, followed by landscape restoration of its impervious surfaces.
The site is well within the park and isolated from any residential buildings.
