Truman D. Kunsman

Truman D. Kunsman, 95, of Catasauqua, died Oct. 12, 2015, at his home. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Harry and Lucy (Hendricks) Kunsman. He was the husband of the late Louise (Barth) Kunsman.

He was a Liberty High School graduate and earned a degree from Millersville State Teachers College.

He was a corporal in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II and was awarded a bronze star.

He was an industrial arts teacher at Catasauqua Area High School until he retried. Earlier, he worked in the #2 machine shop at Bethlehem Steel.

He was a member of Advent Moravian Church, Bethlehem. He was a member of the Fullerton American Legion Post #367, Whitehall. He was a past master of Bethlehem Lodge #283, Masonic Temple, and had dual membership with Porter Lodge #284, Catasauqua. He was a member of the Lehigh Consistory, Valley of Allentown; Rajah Shrine, Reading; Tall Cedars of Lebanon; Mercantile Club, Emmaus; and the Lehigh Shrine Club. He was a trombonist with the former Joe Gilly Orchestra, the New Holland Band, Citizen’s Band of Roherstown and the Tall Cedars Band. He was a member of the L. V. musicians association.

He is survived by a sister, Betty Kemmerer of Bethlehem; two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Kunsman and Dorothy Bedics; a brother-in-law, Lloyd Kemmerer; and nieces and nephews and their families.

He was predeceased by a brother, Earl Kunsman Sr.; and two sisters, Blanche Kunsman and Altha Gubich.
