Stephen “Tippy” Thomas Slahta, 97, of North Catasauqua, died Oct. 9, 2015. Born in Hellertown, he was a son of the late Mary Tutko and Stefan Slahta.

He was in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1935 to 1936. He then worked for Bethlehem Steel for 43 and one half years until he retired when he was a supervisor in the ingot mold foundry.

He was a member of the former St. Andrew’s Church, now St. John Fisher, North Catasauqua, for more than 70 years.

He was a member of the Jednota Lodge for more than 50 years.

He is survived by a sister, Mary Steager, and a brother, Michale Slahta, both of Hellertown; a daughter, Susan; a son, Tom; a daughter-in-law, Janis; and a grandson, Matthew.
