Two men were killed when the vehicle they were in struck a tree just before 2 a.m. Oct. 8 in the area of Boulder Drive near Industrial Drive, Upper Macungie Township.
Jochi Pimentel Fernandez, 29, of 750 N. 11th St., and Nesny Javiel Leandry, 23, of 439 Lumber St., both of Allentown were pronounced dead at 3:15 a.m. and 3:16 a.m., respectively, by Lehigh County Deputy Coroner Rebecca Saborsky at the scene, Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim says.
Upper Macungie Township police say Fernandez was driving a 2010 Honda Civic sedan westbound on Industrial Boulevard when he attempted a left turn onto Boulder Drive.
Police say the Honda, which was traveling at a high rate of speed, failed to negotiate the turn, crossed the roadway and struck a curb before striking the tree.
Both Fernandez and Leandry were wearing their seat belts.
The Honda sustained major damage, police say.
The roadway was partially closed while police investigated.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact police at 484-661-5911.
