PHS wins girls meets

Parkland High School’s girls’ cross country team presented challenges to Liberty, Freedom, and Bethlehem Catholic, defeating all three Bethlehem high schools last week at Lehigh Parkway in Allentown.

The Hurricanes came the closest to the Trojans, losing 20-39. The Patriots and the Hawks lost by the same score of 15-50.

Liberty’s Raisa Kochmaruk won the race in 19:21.

Teammates, Grace Haas and Greta Stuckey also placed in the top ten. Haas finished in eighth place in 21:29, and Stuckey was 10th in 21:48.

Delaney Davis finished right behind in 21:52, taking the 11th spot, and Alicia Valladares placed 14th in 22:10, both for the Hurricanes.

Freedom had three runners in the top 20.

Ally Young placed 13th in 22:05, Olivia Salerno placed 19th in 22:35, and Sarah Dunn came in 20th in 22:45.

Kayla Zigmont placed first for the Hawks and 38th overall with a time of 26:11.

Becahi, Freedom, and Liberty also competed against Dieruff and Allen in the same meet last week.

The Hawks defeated Dieruff and Allen 15-50. The Patriots defeated Dieruff and Allen 15-50. The Hurricanes were also victorious over Dieruff and Allen 15-50.
