BC handles Dieruff

Bethlehem Catholic had little trouble dispatching Dieruff in EPC football action last Saturday, as the Hawks coasted to their third straight win by shutting out the Huskies 40-0.

The Hawks built a 21-0 advantage heading into halftime and never looked back.

Antwon Keenan continued his torrid start to the season by rushing 18 times for 172 yards and five touchdowns.

Keenan now has 18 TD’s on the year and has compiled 718 yards on the ground through five games.

He’s averaging 11.6 yards an attempt as the Hawks (4-1) have had little trouble as of late.

That trend should continue on Friday night when Becahi travels to East Stroudsburg North (2-3) for another division clash.

ESN’s two wins on the season have come against Allen and Pocono Mountain East.

The Timberwolves lost to Stroudsburg last week 26-18, giving the Mounties a fight with their triple-option offense.

Quarterback Thomas Melchiorre led the Wolves offense, rushing for 148 yards on 20 carries to go along with a score on the ground and a TD through the air.

Joey Brown also chipped in with 22 carries for 100 yards and a touchdown for ESN.

Despite Becahi’s 4-1 mark on the season, the Hawks currently sit fifth in the District 11 3A power ratings.

Saucon Valley (5-0), Lehighton (5-0), Central Catholic (3-2) and Jim Thorpe (5-0) sit above the Hawks at the moment.
