Mary E.R. Handwerk
Mary E.R. Handwerk, 93, formerly from Schnecksville, died Sept. 28, 2015, at Moravian Hall Square, Nazareth.
She was the wife of the late Herman S. Handwerk.
Born March 20, 1922, in New Tripoli, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Edna J. (Kistler) Hollenbach.
Helping her husband on the family farm, she received commendations from the Parkland Garden Club for the maintenance of property, flowers and gardening around the farm.
She was a member of Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, volunteering at church bazaars in the kitchen.
She was a former master of the Schnecksville Grange 1684 for seven years and was in charge of the kitchen for nine years.
She was a former 4-H leader of the Neffs Cloverettes for 10 years.
Her survivors include children, Richard H. of Schnecksville and Katherine E. of Indian Rocks Beach, Fla.; sisters Rachel F. Anderson of Allentown, Dorothy A. Hutchinson of Denver and Carol R. Schaeffer of Nazareth; grandchildren Bryan R. of Holmdel, N.J., Tara L. Borgh of High Bridge, N.J. and Drew A. of New Orleans, La.; and great-grandchildren Alaina M. Borgh and Kyle W. of High Bridge.
She was predeceased by a son Steward A. and siblings William A. and Norman H. Hollenbach and Anna M. Birdsall.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Oct. 6, at Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5500 Route 873, Schnecksville, with the Rev. Dennis W. Moore and the Rev. David B. Schaeffer officiating.
Family and friends may pay their respects from 7-8:30 p.m. Oct. 5, at Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville and from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at the church Oct. 6.
Interment will follow the service at New Jerusalem Cemetery, Kempton.
