Historical society plans garage sale
The Northampton Area Historical Society will have its annual fall garage sale 8 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Siegfried Railroad Station, West 21st Street (Route 329). Donations for the sale are accepted from the public. Drop-off is 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 1, and Friday, Oct. 2.
There will be food available for purchase.

The Northampton Area Public Library will hold its annual autumn basket social Friday, Oct. 9. Doors open at 6 p.m. Admission is free. Chinese auction tickets will be sold at the event.

The Essential Elvis Tribute Show will be performed 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Northampton Memorial Community Center, 1601 Laubach Ave. Proceeds benefit The Center for Animal Health and Welfare of Easton.
The performance, a preview for the show’s national tour in November 2015 and summer 2016, will be hosted by Lehigh Valley TV and radio personality Mike Mittman, who will serve as emcee for the night. The cost of a ticket also includes a buffet dinner and soft drinks.
Deadline to purchase tickets is Saturday, Oct. 3. Tickets may be purchased in person at The Center for Animal Health and Welfare, 1165 Island Park Road, Easton, by phone at 484-268-0754 or online at bjeproductions.com.
A limited number of tickets will be offered for sale at the show but will not include dinner.

The St. John’s Friendly Fifties group will meet at 1 p.m., Monday, Oct. 12, in the church social hall, 1343 Newport Ave. Singer Rob Bollimof will entertain.

Northampton AARP Chapter 3915 will meet Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the Northampton Memorial Community Center, 1601 Laubach Ave. Doors open at noon.

The Friends of Northampton Area Public Library will be running a bus trip Dec. 11 to the “Vatican Splendors” exhibit at the Franklin Institute. The exhibit includes many artifacts that have never before left Vatican City. The bus leaves from the Northampton Recreation Center at 8 a.m. and arrives back at 6 p.m. The cost of the trip includes transportation, admission and driver’s tip.

The Exchange Club of Northampton will hold its annual fall craft fair 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 18, at the Northampton Memorial Community Center, 1601 Laubach Ave. The event will also feature door prizes and a 50/50 drawing.

The Northampton Area Public Library will celebrate Teen Read Week Oct. 19-24. Contests, activities and prizes are all part of the fun.
A discussion on the book “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” will take place at 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 19. Books are available at the library.
Book art and folding will take place at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 20.

A program titled “Ghosts and the Paranormal,” presented by Al Rauber, will take place at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 26.

The Women of St. Paul’s group will hold a basket social and bake sale 1-8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 7.
The kitchen will be open serving a light lunch or supper. On Saturday, breakfast will also be served from 8 a.m. to noon. The menu includes eggs, sausage, home fries, pancakes, toast and beverages.
The basket drawing will take place at 12:30 p.m., Saturday. You do not need to be present to win.
Proceeds of this fundraiser support various community organizations and church projects.
