AARP group to meet Oct. 1
AARP Chapter 3115 will meet at noon today, Oct. 1, at the American Club of Coplay, 300 Cherry St. Refreshments will be available during the social hour. Lynn Houghton of Seniors Helping Seniors will talk about services available to seniors who want to stay in their homes. New members are welcome. For information, call 610-395-2820.

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 575 Grape St., will be holding a basket bingo beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9. Doors open at 6 p.m. The bingo event includes 20 games. There also will be door prizes and a Chinese auction. Food will be available for purchase. Call the church office at 610-264-8421 with any questions.

St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church, 618 Fullerton Ave., will be having a basket social 5-7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 9; 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 10; and 8 a.m.-2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 11, in the parish hall. There will be beautiful baskets and delicious food at a reasonable cost.
During the basket social on Saturday, St. Elizabeth’s will feature a chicken and waffle supper 3-7 p.m.
St. Elizabeth’s will also host an all-you-can-eat breakfast 8:30-11:30 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 11, in the parish hall.

Fullerton American Legion Post 367 auxiliary officers were installed Sept. 8 for 2015-16 by District Council President Cathy Olker. They are Carol Renninger, president, and Michelle Schuler, secretary and treasurer. Because of low attendance at previous meetings, it was decided to become a “paper unit,” which means it is the decision of the two new officers whether or not to hold meetings. The auxiliary will continue to meet all ALA obligations despite this decision. The next meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 13 at the post home.
